Breast Lift (Mastopexy)
What is Mastopexy?
Mastopexy, or a breast lift, is a surgical procedure designed to correct sagging breasts by repositioning the breast tissue and removing excess skin to restore firmness, projection, and a naturally harmonious shape.
At Cliniq, mastopexy is performed using advanced surgical techniques and thorough planning, aimed at achieving discreet scars and natural results tailored to each patient’s anatomy. More than an aesthetic change, this procedure helps restore breast structure and recover proportion and firmness with medical judgment and respect for your body, especially after changes such as pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight loss, or the passage of time.
Benefits of mastopexy
- Improved breast contour and shape: Projection and position are optimized, achieving a more harmonious and proportionate result.
- Reduction of sagging: By removing excess skin, the tissue is tightened and regains structural support.
- Correction of asymmetries: In many cases, differences in position or shape between both breasts are improved.
- More rejuvenated appearance: The breasts acquire a firmer and more defined look, in harmony with the rest of the body.
- Natural results with discreet scars: At Cliniq, we use advanced surgical techniques that allow each incision to be carefully planned to promote the most discreet scarring possible.
- Impact on personal confidence: By restoring proportion and firmness to the breast contour, many patients experience greater confidence and well-being in their body image.
How is mastopexy performed?
A breast lift is a procedure that begins with individualized planning, where skin quality, the degree of sagging, and overall body proportions are carefully assessed. At Cliniq, the goal is to achieve a natural and proportionate result, prioritizing safety, surgical technique, and proper scar evolution.
The procedure begins with carefully planned incisions according to the level of correction required. Through these incisions, excess skin is removed, the breast tissue is repositioned, and the nipple-areola complex is elevated to restore a more harmonious position.
Mastopexy can be performed with or without breast implants. Without implants, the natural shape of the breast is redefined; with implants, in addition to lifting, volume is restored when projection has been lost.

Breast Lift FAQs
A breast lift is typically performed under general anesthesia, allowing the patient to remain fully asleep and comfortable throughout the procedure.
General anesthesia ensures a safe and controlled surgical environment—from incision planning to reshaping the breast tissue and, when indicated, placing implants. The final decision regarding anesthesia is made after evaluation by a board-certified anesthesiologist and an individualized assessment of each patient.
Breast lift recovery is gradual and requires specific post-operative care during the first few weeks to support optimal results.
Swelling, bruising, and mild to moderate discomfort are normal and are managed with prescribed medication. A surgical support bra is recommended to provide stability and promote proper healing. Strenuous activity, heavy lifting, and upper body strain should be avoided during the initial recovery period.
Most patients return to light activities and desk work within several days, following medical guidance. Final results become more visible progressively as swelling subsides and scars mature.
Recovery time varies by patient, but breast lift surgery involves a temporary downtime that progresses in stages:
Immediate phase (first few days):
Relative rest is recommended. Swelling and tightness are normal and controlled with prescribed medication.
Short term (week 1–2):
Most patients return to sedentary work. Intense exercise, heavy lifting, and abrupt movements should still be avoided.
Mid-term (3–6 weeks):
Gradual return to moderate physical activity is allowed under medical guidance.
The recovery process is designed to protect surgical results, support proper healing, and preserve the new breast contour.
Breast lift scars vary depending on the degree of correction required. The most common techniques include:
- Anchor (Inverted-T) Incision:
Used when there is significant excess skin or pronounced sagging. It includes an incision around the areola, vertically down to the breast crease, and horizontally along the inframammary fold. This approach allows for more extensive reshaping. - Vertical (Lollipop) Incision:
Includes an incision around the areola and a vertical line to the breast crease. Typically used for moderate sagging, balancing lift and scar discretion. - Periareolar Incision:
Placed only around the edge of the areola and indicated for mild correction.
At Cliniq, each incision is strategically planned to promote the most discreet scar evolution possible. Post-operative follow-up and proper care are essential for optimal healing and scar maturation.
